MULTAN -Civil Defence training for women is imperative as at least 39 percent fire and cylinder blast incidents take place because of fatal mistakes committed by women, disclosed District Officer Civil Defence Tariq Waheed Rana.

Addressing the participants of a seminar held here at a private girls college on Friday, he added that the women spent major portion of their time in kitchen and they needed to adopt precautionary measures during this time to avert any untoward incident. “If there is any gas cylinder in the kitchen, it must be kept straight. Never place it on its side or upside down. Don’t ever get it refilled fully,” he further suggested. He said that no first aid service was available anywhere in the world but the citizens could become first aid service by acquiring its training. He said that the lives of the injured could be saved by extending first aid service to them in case the ambulance was late. He asked the citizens to immediately inform 15 police if they located any unattended bag or suspicious item. He said that an ordinary citizen could make the society and his country a safe place by acquiring civil defence training. He asserted that the importance of civil defence could not be undermined in both peace and wartime.
