A station house officer was accused of taking Rs5 million bribe from a citizen for his brother’s acquittal in a “fake” robbery case.

Complainant Ashraf told the media that SHO Abdul Razzaq Shakir a few months ago had implicated his brother Maaz and other relative in a fake case. He added that the SHO then picked them from their home by violating the sanctity of four walls, kept in different lock-ups, and then registered a “fake” case against them.

However, he alleged, the SHO took Rs5 million as bribe and released them after 12 days of their imprisonment. He said that they were not challaned. He said that they managed the amount by selling their property and other assets.

They have submitted a complaint against the SHO to the Anti-Corruption director general while the hearing was scheduled for March 11 and another complaint was submitted to the Bahawalnagar DPO Mutazir Mehdi who had asked the SP (Investigations) to present a report within 15 days to him.  Meanwhile, the SHO was booked in a fraud case (51/15 U/S 420) at the Bakhshan Khan police station. He allegedly plundered a person with connivance of a Patwari.
