SNG holds pre-budget workshop

VEHARI - It is the strong and robust institutional framework, not merely annual accounting exercises in the name of budgets and projects that can lay concrete foundations for the economic growth and development of the district.
DCO Jawad Akram expressed these views while addressing a daylong pre-budget workshop which was organised by the Sub-National Governance (SNG).
The DCO chaired the workshop and heads of district departments, SNG officials, PRSP, NGOs and members of civil society attended the workshop.
The DCO stressed economic structural reforms, especially in the area of tax collection.
He said that all efforts would be made to allocate resources to provide quality services to people in forthcoming district budget. The DCO said that the concept of evidence based budget was being introduced, strengthened and embedded in the district. The participants discussed in detail needs assessment report of primary health sector in the district formulated by SNG Programme.
Representatives of NGOs and civil society appreciated the approach and said that the participatory approach of budget making would make district budget more citizen focused and responsive to peoples’ needs.
