IGP Prisons Punjab suspends two officials for allowing gambling in jail

Rawalpindi-Inspector General of Police (IGP) Prisons Punjab Mirza Shahid Salim Baig has suspended two officials on charges of allowing prisoners gambling inside Adyala Jail against bribe, informed sources on Saturday.
The two officials have been identified as Head Warder/Chief Chakkar Maula Bakash and Senior Warder Falak Sher, they said.
The top cop took the step in the light of an inquiry report submitted by Jam Asif Iqbal, Superintendent Central Jail Mianwali, sources said. According to details, IGP Prisons Punjab Mirza Shahid Salim Baig received information that two officials of Adyala Jail are involved in facilitating inmates including Imran (a murder convict) for organising gambling in barracks number 1 and 7. The top boss was also informed that the both officials also receive bribe Rs200 to Rs300 from inmates to allow them to visit other barracks, where they are not supposed to visit as per law of prisons department. IG was also informed that a bloody clash also occurred between Imran Group and Gujar Group in barrack number 1 over gambling that left one person injured. Taking action, sources said, IG held an inquiry into the matter. They said the top boss of prisons department suspended the two corrupt officials Maula Bakash and Falak Sher after inquiry officer found them guilty.
