At least one woman passenger was killed and 40 others injured as nine bogies of Lahore-bound Karachi express train derailed near Sangi railway station on wee hours of Sunday.
Rescue team and soldiers of Pakistan Army reached the place of incident. As per IG Railways, rescue operation has been completed and now officials are working to open the track for trains.
Officials said that unfortunate accident was caused because coupler failure. Meanwhile Federal Minister for Railways Azam Swati has said that a report of the incident will be ready in 4 to 5 days and vowed strict action against those found guilty of negligence.
Furthermore, Chief Executive Officer/Senior General Manager Pakistan Railways Nisar Ahmed Memon also inspected the site where nine bogies of Karachi Express train derailed.
The GM Railways has said that a report will be compiled regarding the mishap after thorough investigation. He assured to take action against the responsible people.
