100m Pakistanis now fully vaccinated, says Asad Umar

ISLAMABAD   -   Pakistan has achieved a major milestone as 100 million Pakistanis are now fully vaccinated.


Federal Minister and head of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), Asad Umar, took to twitter on Sunday to announce that the country has reached a major milestone in the national vaccination drive.


“100 million Pakistanis are now fully vaccinated. More than 127 million have received at least one dose. We are very close to achieving vaccination of all eligible citizens,” he said in the tweet.


Meanwhile, Pakistan reported 755 Covid cases and seven more fatalities in the last 24 hours. The Covid-19 positivity rate has dropped to two percent in the last 24 hours, down from 2.1 percent a day earlier.


According to the NCOC, Sindh reported 341 cases and 2 deaths during the past 24 hours, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa 171 cases and 2 deaths, Punjab 166 cases and 2 deaths, Islamabad 37 cases and 1 death, Balochistan 17 cases, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 12 cases and Gilgit-Baltistan reported 11 such cases.


The country also reported 886 more recoveries from the Coronavirus during the past 24 hours, according to the government’s database. This has taken the country’s total recoveries to 1,454,382. The number of active cases is below 30,000 while 821 patients were in critical care as of Sunday morning.
