In men’s singles final, Murad Ali beat Muqeet Tahir by 21-16, 21-19 to emerge as national badminton champion. Wadpa’s Mahoor Shahzad defended her title in women’s singles by thumping Sindh’s Palwasha Bashir 21-11, 20-20 (retd).
In men doubles final, Raja Hasnain/Raja Zulqarnain beat Azeem Sarwar/Murad Ali 22-20, 21-15. In women’s doubles final, Mahoor/Ghazala beat Saima/Palwasha 21-15, 21-16. In mixed doubles final, Raja Hasnain/Palwasha beat Ali Larosh/Ghazala 21-16, 21-14.
Administrator DHA Lahore Brig Waheed Gul Satti was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony and distributed trophies and cash prizes amongst the finalists. Total cash prize of the championship was Rs 600,000. Other notables present on the occasion were POA Secretary Khalil Mahmood, PBF President Wajid Ali Ch, SVP Tayyab Sohail, VP Zafar Ali Khan, Secretary Azhar Mahmood, Treasurer Pervez Habib Butt and Farhan Ali Lashari.
