Minister of State for Health Services, Regulation and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar has distributed cheques of Rs4,500 each to 59 students of Government Islamia Degree College for Women as scholarship. The amount has been provided by the District Zakat and Ushr Committee for promotion of education.

These scholarships were provided to the poor and deserving students as well as those having showed good results in the annual examinations.

She stressed upon the students to concentrate on their studies to brighten their career to become useful and responsible citizen. The function was attended among others by Principal Zahida Nasreen, Chairman District Zakat and Ushr Committee Ch Nasrullah Bhatti.

198 FINED: The Special Price Magistrates in the district challaned 198 profiteers and hoarders and realised Rs1,66,400 from them on the charge of fleecing the consumers during April.

The SPMs have warned the shopkeepers to display price lists conspicuously on their premises and ensure provision of essential commodities to the consumers to provide them some sort of relief. They, however, warned that the defaulters of Essential Price Control Act could be dealt with sternly.
