Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Khawaja Saad Rafique continues to exercise his powers as railways minister, despite revocation of his assembly membership by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The ECP today issued a notification annulling his membership after an election tribunal de-seated him from the NA-125 seat, after examining irregularities in the 2013 general elections.

An official of the Pakistan Railways told sources that officials have been in a fix, whether or not to entertain the orders being issued by Rafique, in the capacity as railways minister. The sources said that the PML-N leader still enjoys the full protocol, with several security guards on his duty.

The official said that the whole railway staff was baffled, whether to follow the orders still being issued by Rafique, and if they do so, they fear they may find themselves in trouble for entertaining illegal orders.

The official said that sticking to the ministerial position and the persistent confusion has put the officials in a dilemma.
