HEC allows GCWU to award degrees

SIALKOT
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has recognised the Govt College Women University (GCWU) Sialkot as a degree-warding university.
Vice Chancellor Dr Farhat Saleemi has termed it a milestone in the history of Sialkot.
Earlier, a meeting of Academic Council of GCWU was held here. The VC chaired the meeting, which made several decisions, besides, approving the rules and regulations of the university. Director Colleges Gujranwala Division Ghulam Sarwar Sipra, Dr Khas Ras Masood, Dr Saifullah Cheema, Dr Rehana  Sharif, Prof Shaista Vine, Mobeena Naqvi and Tahira Idrees attended the meeting.
EDB VOWS STEPS TO BOOST INDUSTRY: Engineering Development Board (EDB) Chairman Tariq Ejaz Chaudhry has pledged to make an all-out effort to boost surgical exports from Sialkot by modernising more than a century-old industry on modern lines.
He was talking to a delegation of Sialkot based surgical instruments manufacturers and exporters who called on him at his office in Islamabad the other day.
Surgical Instruments Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (SIMAP) Chairman Tahir Ashfaq and former chairman Jehangir Bajwa jointly led the delegation. SIMAP delegation discussed in details the matters of mutual interest with the chairman.
The EDB chairman said that the early provision of skilled labour to the surgical industry was demand of the day. He also pledged his full cooperation regarding the early establishment of well-equipped Common Facility Centre at Sialkot to inject fresh blood in surgical industry of Sialkot.
DRILL: The Rescue 1122 Sialkot conducted a drill at a leading industrial unit near Saahowala-Sambrial. A large number of industrial workers and labourers also participated in the mock fire-fighting exercise. They showed their skills and capabilities   to cope with any factory infernos.
