PESHAWAR - PPP central leader and ex-interior minister Rehman Malik said if any relation of him or his family member with arrested model Ayyan Ali was proved then he would quit politics. “Neither he nor any member of his family has relation with Ayyan Ali,”  he stated this while addressing a news conference after a party meeting held at the residence of former federal minister Dr Arbab Alamgir here on Wednesday.

Terming it just rumours that Ayyan smuggled money on his or his brother’s behest, he said that none of his family members, including he himself, have any links with the model and the money seized from her. If it is proved, I will say goodbye to politics,” Rehman Malak added.

He said that allegations are being leveled against him and his party under a well planned conspiracy. Senator Rehman Malak asked the federal and provincial government of PTI in KP to take action against Daiash militants’ organization which is becoming a serious threat to the country.

“We have committed mistake by ignoring Al-Qaeda presence and now we should not repeat the same as in future it may become serious threat,” he remarked.

He said that the current government should take actions against Daaish and Al-Qaida in the similar way it was dealing with Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Flanked by Dr Arbab Alamgir, PPP KP Chief Khanzada Khan, former Governor KP Barrister Masud Kausar and Asma Alamgir, Rehman Malik came down hard on Zulfiqar Mirza, the former home minister Sindh and close aide of Asif Ali Zardari. “He (Zulfiqar Mirza) was no more in PPP.  If his loyalty was with the party, I would have gone to him [for negotiations],” Malik said.

He said that attack on police station by Zulfiqar Mirza, was attack on rule of law. Rehman Malik said that Mirza did not break a table glass but the law of Pakistan. “Zulfiqar Mirza should face the court if he claims to be so brave,” he explained.

Rehman Malik lauded the oratory skills of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain and advised him to refrain from talking against Pakistan army. He said that action must be taken if there is any involvement of RAW in Pakistan.

“I have come to Peshawar on the directives of party’s co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari to resolve the grievances within some leaders of the party in the province.”We have decided to remain united under the banner of PPP and work for the party’s cause,” he said.

He admitted that in the past mistakes were committed by the party leadership in the province, however they would not go in details of those mistakes and tendered apology to all those workers who have been ignored. He said that in last elections, PPP was defeated under a pre-planned conspiracy. “Asif Ali Zardari will soon visit Peshawar and meet all the workers and strengthen the party. In future, the party leadership will focus on party affairs in the province once it was known for the PPP,” he added.

He said they also passed a resolution in the meeting which stated that all the leaders and workers of the party would work together with unity and harmony for the party and masses as per wisdom of Zuliqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto under the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto and Asif Zardari.

Earlier, in his remarks Barrister Masud Kasur dispelled the impression of any grouping within the party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “There was no disgruntled or like-minded group in the party. We had some suggestions to make the party more vibrant,” he said and added their suggestions were appreciated by the party leadership and assurance was given to them that action would be taken on it.

He said they had no personal issues with anyone but wanted to revive the party and once again make it the strongest political force of the province. PPP KP President Khanzada Khan said he would work together with all the party leaders.
