LAHORE - A young man shouted at a judge of the Lahore High Court and pulled a gun while abusing his lawyer after his plea for recovery of his wife was dismissed yesterday.

Bashir, a resident of Kahna area, had filed habeas corpus against his wife’s parents. However, LHC Judge Chaudhary Mushtaq Ahmad dismissed his petition when the woman refused to go with her husband.

The petitioner along with his friends misbehaved with the judge and hurled life threats. The security personnel forced them out of the courtroom.

The furious man also abused his lawyer and aimed a gun at him. However, the fellow lawyers intervened and gave Bashir the thrashing before handing him over to police officials deployed at the courts.

Only Bashir and his friend Awais were handed over to Old Anarkali Police, as the other accomplices disappeared amidst the brawl. Lawyers expressed serious concern over the incident in which an armed man entered the top court of Punjab province. They stressed upon the authorities concerned to ensure foolproof security at the courts.

Court officials dismissed: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Ijazul Ahsan yesterday dismissed three officials of the high court on the charges of corruption.

According to a press release issued yesterday evening, the officials who were removed from the office included Nasir Mehmood, Tariq Azia and Data Entry Operator Muhammad Imran.  The accused officials had also been handed over to Anti-Corruption Department for further action against them.
