LAHORE - Mehboob brothers will vie for top honour in the 4th FMC International Men’s Squash Championship 2016 final to be played today (Saturday) here at the Punjab Squash Complex.

On Friday, Farhan Mehboob won the first semifinal against Israr Ahmed 11/5, 12/10, 11/3 while his younger brother Waqar Mehboob recorded a hard-fought victory against Amaad Fareed in the second semifinal.

Experienced Farhan Mehboob utilized all his skills to down spirited Israr Ahmed, who earlier stunned top seed Farhan Zaman in the quarterfinal, in a 31-minute enthralling first semifinal of the day 11/5, 12/10, 11/3. Israr had no answers to powerful and technical shots of Farhan who displayed quality squash and amused the spectators with his outstanding game.

In the second semifinal of the day, both the players started the match well and were tied at 7-7 when high-flying Waqar showed his class and overwhelmed Amaad 11/7 in the first game. The second game was tougher than the first as both fought for each and every point and leveled the score at 9/9.

Waqar once again dominated at this crucial time and took the game 11/9. In the third game, Waqar didn’t allow his opponent play freely and won it 11/5 with utmost ease and set the final date with his elder brother Farhan Mehboob.

FMC Managing Director Farooq Shahid will grace the final as chief guest and squash legend Jahangir Khan as guest of honour while Punjab Squash Association president Malik Amjad Noon, secretary Shiraz Saleem, VP Rana Tariq, chief referee of the event Asim Amin, Aisf Khan, Mehboob Khan, Sajjad Ahmad and others will be present on the occasion.
