­Naheed backs Bilawal’s demand for PM’s resignation

KARACHI - Pakistan People’s Party Workers leader Naheed Khan on Friday backed PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s statement demanding resignation from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in connection with the Panama leaks.

Addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Friday along with PPPW president Safdar Abbasi, Naheed Khan not only demanded the prime minister to step down over the Panama papers but also called for widening the span of probe to all offshore companies.  “Not just action be taken against the Pakistanis named in Panama Papers, but it should also be widened to all other offshore companies,” she said adding that the political elite should bring its money back in the country.

Naheed Khan called upon PM Nawaz Sharif to resign from his office and allow the PML-N parliamentary party to elect a new leader of the House.  She also urged Bilawal to first remove corrupt people around him including his father and aunt. “Imran Khan should allow the examination of his party accounts as demanded by his old party stalwarts and remove corrupt elements around him too.”

  Bilawal should look towards the ongoing corruption in Sindh and dismiss all those who protected and encouraged the practice through the henchman of his father. He should take action against all those within his party who have offshore companies including his father. Safdar Abbasi, welcoming the accountability process launched by Army Chief Raheel Sharif within his institution, said, “We hope that the institution will continue in the same manner and combing operation should be widened to interior Sindh and Punjab.”

They said that new developments are being reported in media that the JIT of Dr Asim and Uzair Baloch revealed certain important information about the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.  “We demand the Rangers authorities to make public the JIT reports linked to the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.”

Moreover, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), has urged the coordination committee of the PPP Balochistan to work hard and keep close collaboration with the workers to select the best office-bearers acceptable to all the ‘Jiyalas’.  He was talking to PPP’s Coordination Committee, Balochistan, which called on him at the Bilawal House on Friday. “We want to launch a movement for strengthening democracy, human rights and politically, economically and socially strong Pakistan,” he added. Those who attended the meeting including members of the coordination committee for Balochistan, Sardar Fateh Hasni, Madad Ali Jatak, Senator Sabir Baloch, Aijaz Baloch and Sardar Sirbuland Khan. PPP Women Wing president and MNA, Faryal Talpur and political secretary to the chairman, Jameel Soomro were also present in the meeting. The committee members apprised the chairman about their activities regard reorganisation of the party in Balochistan and also briefed about the overall political situation of the province. Bilawal emphasised for close contacts with the youth of Balochistan to encourage their participation in the political struggle.
