ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has decided to induct National Party chief Senator Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo in the federal cabinet and he would take oath of his new responsibilities on Monday.

Sources in the ruling party revealed the decision to induct Bizenjo in the federal cabinet had been made at the time of replacement of Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch (From National Party) with PML-N provincial chief Nawab Sanaullah Zehri.

These sources said the induction of a Baloch nationalist in the federal cabinet had no relevance to the current political crisis in the wake of the opposition’s demand for probe of the prime minister and his family members into the Panama leaks.

The sources in the party said that under the agreement PML-N had formed a coalition government in Balochistan with nationalist parties, National Party and Pakhtunkhawa Milli Awami Party. Despite being the single largest parliamentary party in the Balochistan Assembly, PML-N offered the slot of the chief minister to junior coalition partners for the first half of the five-year mandated term of the government.

On completion of first half of the term, National Party Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch stepped down and Sanaullah Zehri stepped in. To appease the National Party leadership, the prime minister decided to induct Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo in the federal cabinet.

The sources in the party said Mir Hasil Bizenjo was to take oath of his office on Friday (May 5), but it was deferred till Monday as the President was busy with other pressing engagements.
