MULTAN-The PTI has decided to consult lawyers’ organisations on the TORs evolved by the opposition parties as the party believes that the black coats could play a key role in anti-corruption drive.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central leader Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi disclosed while talking to the media here at Multan Airport on Friday.

He said that the issue of Panama leaks would be raised in the assembly on May 9. He told the journalists that the PTI chief Imran Khan sent a letter to the presidents of each bar and lawyers’ representative bodies while he would hand over the letter to the president of Multan bar today. He said that the government called the opposition TORs illegal based on bad intent which was unconstitutional.

He said that corruption paralysed the country and made it dependent on IMF. “We believe that the lawyers, who played historic role in all movements, can replicate their role in anti-corruption movement for making the country self-reliant,” he added. He said that the Prime Minister had lost moral justification to stay in his office after his and children names surfaced in Panama leaks. “He should resign and face the investigations. If the allegations against him are not proved, he may become Prime Minister again,” he proposed.

To a query, the PTI leader anticipated that the government would conspire to divide the opposition but all attempts would fail. To another question regarding differences in party ranks, he declared that the desires of all those, who want to bring Shah Mehmood and Jahangir Tareen at odds, would never be fulfilled. He said that the PTI fully supported the government on the issue of terrorism. He told the journalists that the party chief Imran Khan had taken notice of Lahore incident and the Faisalabad public meeting would be held on May 20.

PSP fast shaping up: Haroon

Leader of Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Raza Haroon has said that his party is fast organising its chapters in all provinces and work in Punjab is also underway at a brisk pace.

He was talking to the journalists here on Friday after his arrival from Karachi for organising the party chapter here. He added that the party would be organised in all areas of the country first and then public meetings would be held. He declared that soon party committees for Multan and other parts of the South Punjab region would be named.

Answering a question, he said that the institutions had failed to investigate into the Panama leaks issue. He said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) did not discharge its responsibilities either. “Transparent and ruthless accountability is the need of the time,” he added.

To another query, he said that Afaq Ahmad and MQM Quaid Altaf Hussain kept fighting for 24 years. “Why on earth Afaq Ahmad is seeking to reunite with Altaf Hussain after setting aside all difference?” he posed a question.

He strongly condemned the mysterious death of MQM worker Aftab Ahmad in Rangers custody and demanded investigation. He was accompanied by party leaders Iftikhar Randhawa, Sheikh Karamat Ali, Muhammad Yaseen and others. Earlier, they visited the shrines of Shah Rukan-e-Alam and Bahauddin Zakariya and offered fateha.
