RAWALPINDI On the directives of Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Muhammad Aslam Khan Tareen, police launched an operation to search suspected persons in the region on Friday. During the operation, police searched around 422 houses and 1,015 persons were checked in various localities of district Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal. According to details, the police, under supervision of SP CIA, checked almost 360 houses in the vicinities of Westridge, Siam Road, Mohallah Kashmirian, Mohallah Zamidaran, and Dhoke Mustaqeem during the search operation and took 90 persons into custody for verification of their record. The police also raided a house at Doltala in the jurisdiction of Jatli Police Station and apprehended six gamblers and confiscated cash amount of Rs. 27,045 put on stake. Police also arrested five drunken persons and recovered 30 bottles of liquor. , 2 pistols, and 0.5 KG of charas. Two persons in possession of almost 95 illegal mobile phone SIMs were also arrested. The CPO has given a special task to SP CIA Sultan Mehmood Chaddar to find stolen vehicles in the district while SP Security Malik Matloob was appointed as special officer to look after security arrangements made by educational institutions. CPO Rawalpindi Rao Iqbal has given one week time to SHO Gujar Khan to trace out facts about a blind murder which was took place at Bewal.
