LAHORE - District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noor-ul-Amin Mengal on Tuesday said that matchless arrangements would be made on the occasion of Muharram-ul-Harram this year as it was the responsibility of the City District Government to arrange maximum security preparations for the occasion so that any unwanted incident could be avoided.

While chairing a meeting reviewing arrangements of Muharram-ul-Harram Mengal assured Shia Sect representatives that CDGL with the help of law enforcement agencies would formulate a comprehensive plan for the security of Majalis and the procession of 10th of Muharram. He said that lady police constables along with male constables, Rescue 1122 officials and Civil Defence volunteers would also perform their duties on Majalis and processions.

“A special meeting will be held with LESCO officials to ensure regular electricity supply on the occasion of 10th of Muharram. The CDGL would also keep generators stand by in case of electricity failure”, DCO said.

He instructed concerned officials to ensure drinking water supply of Karbala Gamay Shah and a special lighting arrangement. The DCO directed officials to immediately remove hate spreading banner, if installed in any part of the city and to take action against responsible.

“People spreading hatred and damaging peace will not be tolerated as Allah discouraged sectarianism in the Holy Qurran” he added.  The DCO further requested Shia representatives to close their processions and Majlis on given time and to cooperate with District Administration. Shia Sect, representatives, pointed out broken and damaged roads coming on procession path, on which Mr. Mengal instructed concerned officials to immediately start patch work and install manholes.

On the request of Shia Sect representatives, the DCO directed Police officials to depute, educated Police constables, having good mannerism, on the check posts, so that visitors could not be stopped unnecessarily. The meeting took place at Town Hall which was also attended by,SP Multan Khan, SP Security, officers of City District Government Lahore and others departments.

Test for recruitment to the posts of Director Computer Services and Deputy Director Marketing in the Lahore Development Authority will be held on 18 November 2012. List of eligible candidates has been provided on the NTS website www.nts.org. Roll number slips have also been issued to the candidates called for the test.
