ISLAMABAD - Lack of proper parking facilities near Federal Government Services Hospital (Polyclinic) are creating problems for the patients and their attendants that is worsening with every passing day.

The Polyclinic is the second major hospital of the city, accommodating a large number of patients, stationed in defferent government offices in the capital. However, several patients visit this hospital from remote areas also. Hence, this hospital provides healthcare to hundreds a day, patients and their attendants have no place to park their vehicles despite such huge inflow.

The hospital administration has occupied a road running through the Argentina Park. This park is behind the hospital and the occupied area is basically a link road which has been rendered useless because of the barriers put in front of it by the administration. Qasim Ali a patient told APP that a watchman standing by the barrier did not let him park his vehicle inside the barriers although the area was meant for parking for patients and their attendants.

Tahir Ali, an attendant, said the vehicles parked in front of the hospital accelerate patients’ problems and there was a dire need to solve this issue otherwise the situation could lead to a major mishap.

The Polyclinic Medical Superintendent (MS) told this news agency that Capital Development Authority (CDA) had been requested a number of times to reserve proper parking place for the hospital, but the civic authority had not done anything yet.

CDA Spokesman while talking to APP said barriers erected by hospital were illegal and denied that the hospital administration had requested the CDA for parking arrangements.

Spokesman further said that civic authority had made some temporary parking arrangements in front of the hospital. The civic body was well aware of the problems being faced by the patients and would try to redress these problems, he added.
