Islamabad - National Assembly Standing Committee on cabinet ordered Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Maroof Afzal to vacate the 14 slums from illegal occupants in the federal capital.

The chairman CDA earlier briefed the committee that total of 24 slums are existed in the capital and out of which 10 have legal status but 14 are illegal.

The committee met under the chair of Rana Hayat, Chairman Committee on Thursday in Parliament House. The committee discussed the CDA issues, new airport project and people works programme.

The committee showed its resentment for not providing details of people works programme by the cabinet division. It has ordered the cabinet division to provide the details of all 13 institutions but the Division could provide the details of only six institutions. It asked the Cabinet Division officials to provide complete details of thirteen institutions by November 13.

The chairman CDA informed the committee that the matter of a new road to airport was not resolved so far.

He said that it was decided that capital would be linked with the new airport through the Kashmir Highway.

He said the government decided to introduce the new route and construct another road for linking the capital with the new airport.

The chairman CDA informed the committee that the authority awarded plots to six employees who joined CDA on deputation since 2010. The committee ordered Chairman to submit the details of those employees who were awarded plots by CDA.
