ISLAMABAD - Farhan Zaman breezed into the $25,000 Lagos International Squash Championship 2014 semifinals after defeating home favorite Adwwala Amao 3-1 in the quarterfinal in Nigeria on Thursday.
Danish Atlas Khan lost 3-1 to top seed Adrian Grant in the other quarterfinal. Farhan had to face very poor refereeing, who tried their level best to help Adwwala win that particular tie. Despite playing very rash game and trying to inflict physical injuries on opponents, referees didn't bother to caution Adwwala and made numerous dubious decisions.
Farhan started the first game on a positive note, but too many rash decisions were given against him, which allowed Adwwala win the first game 11-7. Farhan sensed the situation and played aggressively in the second game and took it 11-7. Same was the case in the third game, when Farhan once again managed to keep Adwwala away from his body and won it 11-7. It was all Farhan in the fourth game, as Adwwala, despite using all the dirty tricks and referees help, failed to stop Farhan who brushed Adwwala aside to take the fourth game 11-1, just dropping one point in the process. Farhan will now face Adrian Grant in the semifinal, who beat Danish 3-1.
Danish started the first game on a bright note and won the game 11-8, but it was all Adrian who started to play freely and took the next three games 11-4, 12-10, 11-7 to set up Farhan Zaman clash.
