Karachi - Stocks closed record high amid higher trades led by selected stocks across the board on strong valuations.
The KSE benchmark 100-share index posted a fresh gain of 70.47 points or 0.23 percent to end the day at 30663.78 points compared to 30593.31 points of the last working day on Wednesday.  
Speculations ahead of release of $1.1b IMF tranches expected this month, favourable CPI data for Oct’14 and institutional interest in leveraged scrips in textile, fertilizer and cement sectors played a catalyst role in bullish activity. Profit taking in OGDCL after announcement of floor price and expected oil inventory losses in OMCs impacted the sentiments negatively, equity expert Ahsan Mehanti observed here.
KSE-Allshare index added 11.48 points or 0.05 percent to stop the session at 22473.40 points, KSE-30 index decreased by 27.04 points or 0.13 percent to conclude the trading at 20157.21 points while KMI-30 index grew by 20.90 points or 0.04 percent to stop the day at 49104.96 points.
Trading took place in 210 companies where gainers beat the losers 210 to 170 while the value of 22 stocks remained intact. Highest increase reflected in the price of Nestle Pak.XD up by Rs 399 to Rs 8499 followed by Exide (PAK) up by Rs 71.73 to 1514. Colgate Palmolive and Rafhan Maize were the top price losers of the day decreased by Rs 84 to Rs 1604 and Rs 58.33 to Rs 10791.67.
Market traded 293.778 million shares after opening at 232.825 million shares and the value of traded shares was climbed to Rs 15.430 billion from Rs 11.763 billion. The capitalisation of the market maintained Rs 7.095 trillion compared to Rs 7.094 trillion of a day earlier.
Active list was topped by JS. Sidd.Co with 15.492 million shares as it closed at Rs 11.09 after opening at Rs 11.35. Engro Fertilizer Ltd was the second highest on volume chart with 14.572 million shares up by Rs 1.16 to Rs 60.66. It was followed by Bank Al-Falah with 13.716 million shares grew by Rs 1.55 to Rs 31.10, Faysal Bank with 11.198 million shares higher by Re 0.26 to Rs 18.18 and Maple Leaf cement with 11.048 million shares up by Re 0.05 to Rs 31.55.
