PESHAWAR - National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Thursday filed a formal reference of Rs. 3.746 million against Gulzar Ali, former secretary to Chairman Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA), in the Accountability Court Peshawar.
NAB had authorized the inquiry against Gulzar and others on March this year, for their alleged involvement in embezzlement of public money by depositing the same in his personal bank account. Later, the inquiry was converted into investigation on August 18.
The accused person destroyed the office record to hide this embezzlement. HERA being unable to recover the looted money urged the NAB (KP) to conduct an inquiry against the accused and recover the embezzled money.
It is worth mentioning here that Gulzar Ali was arrested by NAB on June 3, and currently is on bail.
