PESHAWAR - At least three personnel of Frontier Constabulary (FC) died and 57 others sustained injured in a collision between an oil tanker and an FC bus on Kohat Road in the outskirts of the provincial metropolis Thursday.

The private bus (T-1188), carrying 75 FC personnel from Kohat to Shabqadar, collided with an oil tanker near Zangali check-post in Mattani area.  According to rescue officials and eyewitnesses, over-speeding by drivers of both the vehicles caused the accident.

As a result, three personnel of FC including Mast Amir and Khalid died on the spot while Akram breathed his last at hospital.

The rescue teams shifted dead bodies and the injured to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH).

According to DMS Dr. Subhani, four of them were in critical condition.

Officials said that the FC bus was coming from Kohat, when it met with an accident near a patrol pump at Mattani area. The bus carrying the FC men has reportedly been hired from Kohat for the transportation of the personnel to Shabqadar.

Having the capacity of less than 50 persons, at least 75 men were onboard at the time of the accident. The bus overturned following the collision with a tanker. It has been learnt that police have arrested the driver of the oil-tanker.

Soon after the incident, senior officials of the force rushed to the hospital and inquired about the health of those injured in the accident. The funeral prayers of the three personnel were offered at FC headquarters. Later, the dead bodies were dispatched to their hometowns for burial.
