ISLAMABAD - Sensational plenty by Bilal Khan and a try by Sahir Aslam helped Islamabad Jinns thrash hapless Army 11-0 in the 4th Services Rugby League encounter played here at Pakistan Sports Complex, outer Stadium on Sunday.

IPC minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada was the chief guest, while PSB Director General Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, DDG Facilities Agha Amjedullah, Army Sports Board DG Brig Ghulam Jilani, Assistant Director Hostels Malik Imtiaz Hussain, Director Security Capt (R) Malik Ashraf, Islamabad Rugby Association (IRA) secretary Salman Muzaffar Shaeikh and rugby lovers were also present on the occasion.

The highlight of the day was that female spectators outnumbered male spectators, which added to the beauty of the match. National champions Army entered the match with full preparations while on the other hands, Islamabad Jinns were also confident enough to register an impressive victory.

The tough competition was witnessed in the first 40 minutes, as Army players were trying their level best to dictate terms but Jinns players were not ready to concede. It was highly charged up match as both team players were involved in scuffles and emotions were running very high. Finally Jinns players settled down and broke the deadlock through last match hero Bilal Khan who stepped up to take the plenty in the 17th minute and duly put inside the bars and gave his team three valuable points, as the first half ended with Jinns leading 3-0.  When the second half was at its peak and no goal was scored by both the teams, frustrated Army players found involved in physical brawl, but the referee handled the situation quite well. Army coach Ashraf was literally abusing his players, shouting at them and urging them to move forward rather than playing in their own half. Such was his frustration that he wore playing kit and entered the match as playing coach, but his presence didn’t make any difference.

Jinns players then regrouped them and scored a tremendous try through seasonal player Sahir Aslam to provide his tema 8-0 lead. Soon after this, Bilal added to the miseries of Army, as he scored another three-pointer from the plenty, which enhanced Jinns’ lead to 11-0 which remained intact till the end. When the final whistle was blown, wild celebrations broke out and Jinns fans and families rushed to the playing field and celebrated Jinns’ victory in great style.

IPC Minister Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada gave away prizes to the teams and players. Sahir Aslam was named player of the match.
