SWABI - Two militants and personnel of elite force were killed and a policeman got injured during a clash in tehsil Topi village, District Police Officer Javid Iqbal said yesterday.

The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Topi city police station at Maini village.

It has been learnt that police van of Topi city police was patrolling in the area at night and they suddenly saw three suspects, police warned them to stop but they opened fire at them.

The gunfight resulted in the killing of elite force personnel identified as Fahad Shah and constable Muneer Khan got injured.

After the gunfight, one of the three militants escaped and two militants took refuge in nearby stationary shop while making three employee of the store as hostage to protect themselves from police.

In the meantime, police enforcement also reached to the spot and the hostages held talks with the militants. After talks the militants agreed to free the hostages.

“They were told to remove their shirts, raise both their hands in air and walk away from the militants to the police,” he said.

After securing the hostages, the encounter started at midnight.

DPO said one of the two militants killed himself while the others were killed by law enforcing agencies.

He said that DNA test would clear identity of the militants.

However, sources in police said that one of the militant has been identified as Muhammad Aamir who lived in Mani village but belonged to Marghuz village of the district.
