Lahore - Wildlife officials with the help of Rangers held five persons for deer hunting in Jandiala area of Lahore.

The officials got a tip off that five persons were engaged in illegal hunting of deer upon which the officials conducted a raid with Rangers in Jandiala and arrested five accused while two of their accomplices fled the scene.

The accused were identified as Mubashir, Pervez, Zahid, Shamshad Gull and Zaka. Weapons, rounds and three animals were recovered from their possession.

Legal action will be taken against the accused, said wildlife officer Shahrukh Butt.

The Punjab government has imposed a strict ban on hunting and business in all wild animals and birds across the province, following a sharp decline in the population of most of the wild animals and bird species.
