LUHMS conducts first entry test in Mirpurkhas

MIRPURKHAS -  The Liaqat University of Health and Medical Science (LUHMS), Jamshoro, conducted an entry test for admission to MBBS and BDS courses at the Muhammad Medical College in Mirpur Khas on Sunday.

As many as 1,017 male and female students (395 male and 622 female) from Mirpur Khas, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Sanghar and Tando Allahyar took the test.

LUHMS Jamshoro Vice Chancellor Dr Noshad A Shaikh, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muneer Ahmed Junejo, Registrar Dr Roshan Ali Bhatti, Examinations Controller Iqbal Memon, DN Prof Ikramullah Ujjan, PRO Allah Dino Mallah, Security Officer Gulab Odho and Muhammad Medical College Vice Principle Dr Shamsul Aarfeen visited the entry test venue to see the arrangements.

Talking to this correspondent over the phone, Dr Noshad Shaikh said, “We are making arrangements to conduct entry test in various districts to facilitate students.” He said this was the first time that the LUHMS had conducted an entry test for the students of Mirpur Khas Division at the Muhammad Medical College. He said that admission to medical colleges had become more competitive nowadays and more girls than boys were taking the test. He said that LUHMS would produce professional doctors and paramedics who would provide better health facilities to people in rural areas. He said that students would be given admission to various medical courses purely on merit. He expressed the hope that the government would build the Mirpur Khas Medical College soon.

Earlier, police, security guards and administrative staff of the Muhammad Medical College did not allow a team of local journalists to enter the test venue. They also misbehaved journalists. In reaction, journalists staged a protest demonstration outside the Muhammad Medical College and sought action against those who misbehaved.
