LODHRAN : Terming education only key to prosperous the nation, Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood directed the officers to enhance children enrolment in schools and further improve quality of education.

He stated during a surprise visit to different boys and girls schools here the other day. EDO Education Muhammad Ismail and DO (Education) Jamal Nasir accompanied him.

On the occasion, the education minister directed the schools’ principals to ensure timely provision of scholarships to deserving students. He said that imparting quality education to students and equipping them with different skills is necessary for the uplift of the country.

He said that the Punjab government is providing free books and uniforms to students, adding monthly stipends for the deserving students have also been increased to help them acquire education. Rehabilitation of dilapidated schools buildings will also be started soon, Mr Mashhood added. “To fulfil the shortage of teachers in schools in rural and urban areas, 42,000 new educators will be recruited according to the education uplift of the government,” the education minister informed.

Earlier, Rana Mashhood visited different state-run boys and girls’ schools and inspected computer labs, libraries and classrooms there.
