ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed authorities concerned on Monday to reduce hours-long power outages by at least 50 per cent across the country.

The prime minister announced the development and instructed secretary of the Ministry of Water and Power to act upon the directives within 24 hours.

Reportedly, power outages are to be reduced to three hours in every 24 hours in urban areas while four hours in rural areas.

It should be mentioned here that the premier has claimed numerous times to end power outages by 2018.

Construction of different power projects is underway, according to the government, which would help curb energy crisis.
