LAHORE - The first phase of Raiwind’s Tableeghi congregation concluded yesterday with final prayers in which around one million people participated.

A prominent religious scholar led the ending prayers, seeking Allah’s kindness and mercy for entire human race and prayed for unity among Muslims and peace and peace and prosperity of Pakistan and entire Muslim world.

Thousands of Tablighi teams left the Pindal (central place for the participants) for other cities and parts of country and abroad to preach and spread the message of Islam.

Earlier, in their speeches, the scholars stressed unity in the ranks of Ummah across the world to counter conspiracies and internal differences. Prominent scholars who addressed the three-day congregation were Haji Abdul Wahab, Maulana Tariq Jameel, Maulana Saad of India and Maulana Ahmad Bahawalpuri and others.

Collective marriages of hundreds of couples at a simple ceremony were also held during the ijtima. The second phase of the congregation will start from November 13.

The first phase continued for three days at Raiwind, the headquarters of Tableeghi Jamaat, which attracted hundreds of thousands of faithful from across the country and abroad.

The participants vowed to lead their lives as per the divine guidance and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

After the concluding session, the participants departed for their homes. Long queues of vehicle and traffic rush was witnessed following the conclusion of the congregation.

Special security arrangements were made by the provincial government for the congregation, which is among the biggest Muslim gatherings after Haj.
