islamabad - Due to abrupt change in weather conditions in the evening, a sharp increase in demand of woollen stuff has been witnessed in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

A number of stalls of winter stuff, including warm caps and other material, have been set up. Frequent rush on stalls and shops has been observed at Aabpara, G-9 Markaz, Commercial Market and Rawalpindi Saddar.

Shopkeepers are getting huge profit due to changing weather as they know the fact that citizens are bound to purchase warm items even at high prices.

A shopkeeper at Aabpara said, “I have every kind of warm stuff but mostly people are buying woollen caps to protect themselves from cold.

A citizen Ayesha Khan said, “After sudden change in weather I went to local market to buy the warm stuff for me and for my children, and I observed that the prices of these items at stalls are higher than the last year’s prices. I also bought a woollen cap, commonly known as Chitrali cap, for my husband and son to protect their heads from the cold in the evening.”

Meanwhile, a great surge is being witnessed in the sale of fish in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The people have started enjoying fried fish, which is high in demand to welcome winter season.

Various kinds of fish including Simon, pamphlet, black raho, mushka, mahsher and lobsters are being served at the stalls at Chota Bazaar, Committee Chowk, Commercial Market, Super Market, Jinnah Super Market and different restaurant of the twin cities. People come to these fish outlets to enjoy fish along with their family and friends.

Health expert Dr Sarah Adnan said, “Fish is a great source of protein and it can be a treatment for many diseases. People suffering from heart diseases, high-blood pressure and diabetes should use white meat as part of their treatment.”

“Fish is generally considered to be among the best foods you can eat for a healthy heart. To meet omega-3 requirements, eating fatty fish at least once or twice a week is recommended. It may also help with other mental disorders, such as bipolar disorder,” she told.

“Some fish oils, such as cod liver oil, are also very high in vitamin D, providing more than 200% of the recommended intake in a single tablespoon,” she added.

A fish dealer told APP that Rawal Dam and Simly Dam are two major points for fishing in the twin cities. The main hub of fish in the twin cities is Kamran Market and a market at Ganj Mandi.
