TDAP asked to facilitate women exporters

PESHAWAR -  Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Zahidullah Shinwari has urged the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) to take essential steps for encouragement of women exporters by facilitating them in preparation of documentation for exports.

He made this demand while speaking at a seminar held on Monday at the Chamber by TDAP in collaboration with Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI). Shinwari stressed the need that businesswomen should be given facilities so that they could export their products abroad to earn foreign exchange for the country.

WCCI President Fauzia Inayat, vice president Rukhsana Nadir, TDAP Director Sareer-u-Din, Assistant Chief Manager State Bank of Pakistan Waheed Akram Butt, and women businessmen shared views on the occasion.

He suggested that government should make easy the export procedure, export policy and documentation to enable women exporters take part in the business activities in the country and abroad.

Shinwari suggested that women entrepreneur, small and middle scale traders should be given maximum facilities so that businesswomen could get opportunities for coming forward in the corporate sector and play significant role in development of industrialization.

Besides, he said that different government departments should accommodate women businesspersons in the boards of directors as members. He also asked for introduction of special schemes for women in the trade, business and industrialization.

WCCI president Fauzia appreciated the role it had played for promotion of businesswomen and strengthening of local economy in the province. She also asked for inclusion of women in the export sector, saying that the female should be given due share in policy making process as about half of the population consisted of women.

The TDAP Peshawar Director Sareer-ud-Din and former Director General Zahir Shah shared information with participants about export documentation, procedure, payment mechanism, foreign exchange and regulatory regime. They also talked about facilities, opportunities provided by the TDA to businesswomen.
