A modern slaughterhouse is being set up in Lahore at Shahpur Kanjran which is a commendable step on the part of the Punjab Government. Already there are a number of official slaughterhouses in the city, but illegal slaughtering by butchers at private places continues unabated. This illegal activity is carried out with the connivance of District Govt staff. Diseased and underage animals are slaughtered at such places.
