LDA issues Security Feature Documents

LAHORE - In an effort to safeguard the proprietary rights of owners and to control incidents of forgery and sale of plots on fake transfer letters, Lahore Development Authority has started issuance of Security Feature Documents to the purchasers and title holders of plots, situated in its housing schemes, from Wednesday. As many as 13 property documents including allotment letter, allocation letter, commercialisation, ownership requisition, transfer letter, permission to mortgage, physical possession, possession order, completion certificate, exchange letter, sanction plan and exemption letter etc shall henceforth be issued on security featured papers by the Lahore Development Authority. The specially designed security featured paper, being used for this purpose, is foolproof and contains such security characteristics, which are not visible with naked eye. Besides the bar code, MCS fibre paper, manufacturing watermark with hologram and 3D images, these papers carry such dedicated and secure features which make them impregnable for any counterfeit. This security paper has life of more than 100 years and neither it is available in market nor can it be counterfeited. In Pakistan, only government printing press has the right to prepare and use such paper. To ensure elimination of counterfeit at all levels, all property documents as well as their office copies too, shall be prepared and issued on this security paper. As a result of preparation of property related documents by Lahore Development Authority on security papers, it has become impossible for land mafia to reproduce, temper with or forge such documents. While talking to TheNation the spokesman of Lahore Development Authority informed that such Security Feature Documents had been prepared in order to discourage the land grabbers and practice of making fake documents by the fraudulent elements. He said that these papers were fully secured as nobody could overwrite these papers and in case somebody tried to rub out any particular, these papers would tatter. He further said that Lahore Development Authority would also have complete computerized personal details of the person to whom these papers would be issued. He added that the official concerned would also issue a pin code of each document for the safety of the proprietary rights of the file owners, which nobody could trace except the official authorized to issue such papers. The spokesman further said that the Lahore Development Authority authorities had decided to issue such security feature papers after receiving a number of complaints regarding issuance of fake files of costly plots situated in the housing schemes of LDA. Such fake files were issued to the land grabbers in connivance with some corrupt officials of the department, who later were sacked from the department, he concluded.
