LAHORE Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)s President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat thanked FIFA President Sepp Blater, AFC President Mohamed bin Hammam and FIFA Vice President Dr. Chung Moon-Joon (South Korea) for launching six goal projects in the country. The words of thanks came during the Tuesday night dinner hosted by PFF at the FIFA Football House, in honor of FIFA Development Officer Vernon Manilal Fernando, FIFA Development Manager Asia David Borja plus Guanzhou-bound Pakistan U23 team and Pakistan U14 team that put up splendid display in AFC U14 Festival of Football last May. Lahore Project is now at PFF Secretariat, Peshawar Project is on the brink of inauguration while work on the eagerly-awaited Karachi Project will start next month. We are also looking for construction of goal projects at Quetta, Sukkur, Mir Pur Khas, Nowshera, Abbottabad, Faisalabad, Multan and Bahawalpur. We hope to fill other three cities with three more such projects as several FIFA-affiliated nations assured us all out support, he said. If plans go accordingly, we will have 12 goal projects by the late 2013 compared to other 207 FIFA members as all of them have only two Goal Projects, said confident Faisal. Manilal, in his turn, said that FIFA Inspection team is in Lahore to visit the flood-struck Pakistan in a bid to use football to bring hope and happiness back to the local people. The task is a daunting one and the challenges are many, but these are not insurmountable, added Manilal.
