LAHORE - Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court Khawaja Muhammad Sharif on Wednesday granting request made by the police officials gave them time till October 22, to arrest the accused who fired at and injured Mohsin Tareen, the son-in-law of LHC Justice Asad Munir, last month. SSP (Investigations) Zufliqar Hameed appeared before the court and sought more time for arresting the cu-lprit(s). The CJ, earlier, had expressed displeasure over police failure for not nabbing the accused even after the lapse of 22 days. He observed, In an Islamic state when qazis (judges) or their kith and kin are not safe, what can be the fate of a common man. CJ Sharif had taken suo moto notice on September 23, over police failure to arrest the assailant(s) responsible for injuring Mohsin. According to details on September 2 Mohsin, 40, the son-in-law of Justice Asad Munir, was going to the justices house located in Gulberg along with his wife Hariba, his son and a maid for Iftari. As they approached near Mini Market, an unidentified motorcyclist collided with them. The motorcyclist started quarrelling with Mohsin, and as the latter got out of his car, the motorcyclist took out his pistol and shot fires at him. As a result, Mohsin sustained two bullet wounds in his abdomen and leg, while the motorcyclist managed to escape the scene. Mohsin was rushed to the Services Hospital for treatment. The Ghalib Market police had registered a case against the unidentified motorcyclist.
