KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Friday declared illegal a more than five per cent increase in fee by private schools and institutions.
A two-member bench under the chair of Justice Sajjad Ali Shah heard a petition filed by owners of private schools to declare the limit of five per cent increase as null and void.
However, the court maintained its decision that private schools are only allowed an increase of five per cent, and that strict action will be taken against those institutions flouting the rules.
The court dismissed the petition filed by private school owners, and accepted applications filed by citizens complaining about the exorbitant increase by several schools.
The court adjourned proceedings after instructing the education department to strictly implement the issued directives.
