For seven days, there was no loadshedding but the public didnt have any peace of mind because they were actually bracing through out for electricity to go off. They were ever ready to switch off their electrical appliances so that they dont get burnt out. Then come the holy month and, believe it or not, on the very first day of Ramadan, loadshedding started all over again. In Lahore, we have had 6-7 hours just as we used to have before Ramadan. The poor public is having a difficult time because when they are preparing for Iftari/Sehri, the electricity suddenly goes off. It is very difficult to get eatables ready for table in darkness. We were told there would be no loadshedding at Sehri/Iftari time. That, alas, has not happened. -COL (Retd) R.M. AKHTAR, Lahore, via e-mail, August 19.
