A glance at today's game

England v Pakistan, Cardiff Pakistan have plenty of work to do around the drawing board ahead of todays second Twenty20 in Cardiff. Pakistan stuttered in the first match and lacked focus due to the off field controversy. The batting looked iffy and failed against spinners. Pakistan need to improve their batting and catching. They should have done well but didnt bat and field well which caused their downfall. Pakistan might bring in Mohammad Hafeez in place of Fawad Alam who looked out of sorts on Sunday. The openers need to give a good start. The bowlers with the likes of Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal need to give a better performance as they are two main men for Pakistan. Graeme Swann was the star for England with the ball and will be again their main weapon. Englands main worry will be their top order which failed in the first game. The likes of skipper Paul Collingwood and Ravi Bopara will be expected to lead the run scoring for England as they are their two main players and they owe runs to the team. England bowlers were neat in their effort on Sunday and will be looking to carry on the good performance. In the end it will come down to how Pakistani batsmen how they perform against a tight England bowling. Pakistan can come good if they do their basics right and stay focused. Players to watch Saeed Ajmal might have had a bad on Sunday but he is a proven T20 performer. The off spinner has plenty of variations. On his day, Ajmal can tie down any opposition. Michael Yardy proved to be the surprise package in Sundays game. The southpaw can be pretty tight with the ball and with the bat in hand can score quick runs down the order. After his good performances in the first game he will be eyeing another solid showing in todays game. Head to head & Conditions: England have done well in T20 cricket against Pakistan recently. The pitch was damp due to rain on Sunday in the first part but dried out later. Once again its expected to be a good batting strip provided it stays dry with plenty of runs given the short boundary and quick out field. Nabeel Sabir
