LAHORE Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry of the Lahore High Court on Monday required the interior and defence ministries to inform on September 20 whether Dr Ali Abdullah, who went missing from Jinnah Hospital, was wanted by the agencies functioning under them. Deputy Attorney General Naveed Inayat Malik appearing from the state last day requested the court for time to reply to the said effect. Earlier, the DAG replied on their behalf that Dr Ali Abdullah was not being detained by any agency working under their control. The court also directed Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Aslam Tareen to employ every possible means to recover the doctor. On the order of the court, Abdul Manan, who has produced the story that Abdullah is in custody of the agencies, also appeared before the court. The petitioner Dr Sarfaraz Ahmed, father of Dr Ali Abdullah, told that court that Abdul Manan knew whereabouts of his son, so he should be proceeded again. The reporter was proved innocent during the investigations conducted on courts order. Previously, the defence ministry had informed the court that Military Intelligence had no knowledge about the whereabouts of the missing doctor.
