Plea disposed of

LAHORE A Lahore High Court Election Tribunal on Monday disposed of an application filed by PML-N MNA Malik Riaz challenging authority of the local commission set up to ascertain admissibility of the documents. The Court ruled that any observation made by the commission, set up by the Tribunal itself, was of no legal value. The Tribunal comprising Justice Sh Azmat Saeed also held that objection raised on the commission would be decided by this forum at the time of final disposal of the case. The Tribunal however adjourned the main petition to Sept 16 for further hearing. PPP leader and Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Chairman Asif Hashmi had filed the petition against Malik Riaz, who was elected MNA from NA-118 Lahore, to seek his disqualification on the premise that he was holding a fake degree. As such he should be removed as Member National Assembly in terms of Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
