LAHORE-Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif went to the memorial for the martyrs of September 6 War in Batapur on Monday and laid a floral wreath. Special prayers were also offered on this occasion for the martyrs as well as solidarity and prosperity of the country. The Chief Minister said that September 6 was a milestone in the national history and reminds the nation of those martyrs and Ghazis who laid down their lives in the defense of the country. He said that the Jawans of Pak Army added a new chapter to the national history by their courage and bravery. District Coordination Officer Lahore Sajjad Bhutta, officers of Pak Army and Rangers as well as families of the martyrs were also present on the occasion. PA SPEAKER CALLS ON SHAHBAZ Member Punjab Assembly, Rana Muhammad Iqbal called on Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here on Monday, and presented a cheque for Rs. 0.6.5 million for the relief and rehabilitation of the flood affectees. The Chief Minister said that Punjab government was implementing a comprehensive programme for the relief and rehabilitation of the flood victims and special attention was being paid towards controlling the outbreak of viral diseases in the flood-hit areas. He said that besides distribution of mineral water bottles among the flood affectees, water filtration plant were also being set up in the affected areas. He said that elected representatives and political workers were playing a commendable role in the relief and rehabilitation of the affectees and were serving the distressed people selflessly. He said that philanthropists and affluent persons should take an active part in the relief operation and donate generously for the calamity-stricken people. He said that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated with austerity this year and Quaid Pakistan Muslim League(N) Muh-ammad Nawaz Sharif will celebrate Eid with the flood affectees. The CM said that he expected that public representatives and office-bearers of Muslim League (N) will also celebrate Eid with the distressed people instead of their families and offer Eid prayers with the flood victim as well as share Eid joys with them and their children. Shahbaz Sharif said that it was his desire that public representatives should also take with them relief items and gifts for the calamity-stricken people and their children.
