ISLAMABAD (APP) - Advocate General for Punjab Khwaja Haris on Monday apprised the Supreme Court that three out of four absconding police officials involved in Sialkot incident in which two brothers were lynched by a mob in their presence, had been arrested. Khwaja Haris told a three-member bench, comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday, that accused Rana Ilyas SHO, Tariq Mehmood, Inspector, and a Constable were arrested while Waris Ali, an ASI, was still at large. The bench directed the District Police Officer (DPO) to arrest the absconding one till Tuesday (today). DPO Bilal Siddique apprised that they were making efforts for the arrest of absconding one. The Chief Justice told him that there would be no compromise as the law and justice was equal for everyone. Khwaja Haris said that influential people were involved in protecting the absconding officials. The Chief Justice questioned a major incident had occurred and the influential were protecting the accused. Replying to a CJs query over the issue, the DPO said that they were not influenced by anyone and would ensure arrest of absconding one. He said, There will be no leniency but so far as trial is concerned, rest assure, it will be held fairly. The AG further told the court that evidences were being collected. On last hearing, a report submitted by Director General Anti-Corruption Caesium Ali Malik with the bench on Wednesday, said that the two brothers, lynched by a mob in Sialkot in the presence of police officials on charges of robbery and dacoity, were not involved in such activities at that time. The report said that they might be involved in such activities in the past but in the present case it was not established that they were robbers as no single case of mobile snatching was registered against them. The bench is seized with hearing of a suo moto case pertaining to the alleged murder of two brothers 15-year old Hafiz Mughees Sajjad and 19-year old Hafiz Muneeb Sajjad by a mob in the presence of local police in Sialkot.
