PESHAWAR - In order to give status of province to Hazara Division, three lawmakers from Abbottabad district submitted a resolution in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly secretariat on Friday.
Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Qalandar Khan Lodhi, Advisor to Chief Minister on Department of Food and Public Distribution and MPA Sardar Idrees jointly submitted the resolution.
Through the resolution, it called that giving status of province to Hazara Division is a long awaited demand of the people from the area.
Talking to The Nation, Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani confirmed it that they have formally submitted a resolution in provincial assembly secretariat. "We have submitted the resolution after having proper consultation with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak," he informed.
He said that the resolution may be tabled in the next session of KPK Assembly that is going to meet on September 10. He was confident enough to pass it from the floor of the house, as they would also take all the allied parties into confidence on the resolution. He said that it was a long awaited demand of the people of Hazara Division and it must be met accordingly.
Meanwhile, the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has summoned the session of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday (September 10). The assembly will meet at 03:00 PM in the provincial assembly building of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said a circular issued here.
Separate jail for terrorists:
Online adds: Construction work on a jail, solely for terrorists and militants, has been started in KPK.
As per the authorities concerned, this jail is being established in the city of Mardan in which modern security system will be installed. This will be a central jail and security arrangements there will be of international standards.
Talking to BBC, spokesperson for KPK Chief Minister, Sheraz Paracha, said important prisoners would be kept in this jail and its staff would be fully trained.
According to the authorities, this jail will have separate rooms and a centre from where prisoners will not be able to come out by themselves. Experts’ services are also being hired for this jail and it will be constructed as soon as possible.
A home department official said this project would be completed in the next few months after which all the prisoners facing terror charges would be shifted there.
Initially, militants, terrorists and prisoners involved in major crimes will be shifted to district jail Mardan and as soon as the main jail is constructed, they will be shifted there.
The decision of establishing a jail solely for terrorists and militants was taken after the attacks on Bannu and DI Khan jails.
