After calling off talks with Pakistan, India once against signalled its willingness to discuss Kashmir. This ever changing Indian policy is vexing, but it seems the criticism of the Indian Prime Minister, by world powers, following his decision to call off talks with Pakistan has struck a chord. Mr. Modi, who is to meet Japanese counterpart and Mr Obama soon, is now probably regretting his hardliner stance. Japan and USA are both staunch supporters of Pakistan-India dialogue and want India to work with Pakistan. The latest affirmation of discussions comes from Indian Foreign Ministry. Let us hope that sense prevails and secretary level talks resume between Pakistan and India. Pakistan considers Kashmir a priority when it comes to talks with India and India must not overlook other bilateral issues which are also important.
