Election commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman statement as “insult of public mandate”.
According to the details, spokesman of Election Commission of Pakistan has said that such statements without any evidence are disappointing and untrue.
Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman the leader of MMA has been accusing Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of rigging in general election soon after his appalling trounce in his constituency but ECP strongly condemned his statements and termed his allegations baseless and mala fide.
The spokesman said that Fazal ur Rehman’s demand from ECP to quit is uncalled for and unwarranted which is vehemently rejected.
The spokesman said that ECP has held free, fair and transparent election. The people of Pakistan have exercised their right of vote independently and have chosen their representatives according to their choice. Disrespecting the public mandate is against the basic principles of the democracy, said the spokesman.
ECP spokesman further said that election tribunal comprising high court serving judges are functional and any aggrieved or injured party is free to take up the issue instead of unnecessary hue and cry in the press.
ECP emphasized that it will not accept any undue pressure whatsoever from the people who have no public representation. It said that ECP is an independent body and will continue to perform as such.
