Prime Minister Imran Khan in his televised address on Friday said Pakistan was faced a major challenge of water scarcity.

"We have storage capacity of only 30 days while India has much more water storage capacity than us," he said in his second address to the nation since he assumed office of the prime minister.

"In Egypt, the water storage capacity is 1000 days," he added.

"Construction of dams is a must if we really want to overcome water problem. Experts say after few years we may face drought in Pakistan," he further added.

He praised Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Saqib Nisar for taking the initiative and said that prime minister and CJP fund is being put together.

He made a passionate appeal to all Pakistanis and especially those living abroad to contribute generously to dams fund.

He said he was expecting same response from the overseas Pakistanis as they did in case of Saukhat Khanum Hospital and NAML university.

He said if each and every overseas Pakistani contributes $1000 for the fund we can easily construct dam in five years.

Imran Khan said if overseas Pakistani sends their donations in dollars then we can also control surge in dollar rate.

He said we are not in a position to take more loans as we are already under huge debt. He assured people that he will personally safeguard funds given for dam.

He also asked asked all PTI bodies abroad to wage jehad in this regard.
