MOHMAND AGENCY - As many as 50 militants and four soldiers were reportedly killed and eight others sustained injuries during clashes and shelling on militants hideouts in Mohammad Agency on Thursday. Official sources said while intensifying operation against the militants in Baizai and Safi tehsils various hideouts of the militants were shelled in these areas on Wednesday and Thursday. Resultantly, about 40 militants were so far killed in the action in Alingar, Sheikh Baba, Chamarkand, Suran Darra and Mithai areas, while 10 others were killed in clashes with security forces at Walidad Koorona area at tehsil Baizai. The officials said four soldiers were also killed and eight others sustained injuries on the second day of the operation launched against the militants. They said tehsil Baizai and Safi subdivisions in Mohmand Agency were the most troubled areas in the agency. However, the casualties from both sides could not be confirmed by independent sources. Talking to local militants from unknown location, Sajjad Mohmand, spokesperson for TTP Mohmand chapter, claimed to have inflicted heavy loss on the security forces. Meanwhile, it has also been reported that one person was killed when a mortar shell fell on his house at Rehmat Koroona area at tehsil Safi. The security forces and political administration also demolished the houses of three wanted persons Mian Muhammad, Imran and Laiq Shah for having links with the militants. It has also been learned that tribesmen had started leaving the areas for safer places in downtowns. Meanwhile, at least seven militants were killed and four others got injured during a clash with security forces here at Dabori area on Thursday. Tribal sources said that clash erupted when militants ambushed security forces convoy in Dabori area. The security forces in retaliation targeted the hideouts of militants, which resulted in killing of seven militants and injuring four others. The security forces also launched search operations in Arang and Gall areas of Orakzai Agency where they recovered sophisticated weapons and a large number of explosives. On the other hand, Taliban Spokesman for Orakzai Agency, Hafiz Saeed, rejected the statement of security forces and said that no clash between security forces and militants took place. 57 militants, 4 soldiers die in clashes
