ISLAMABAD - Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said that corruption in judiciary has demolished the image of the institution. He was talking to a 50-member delegation of Kohat, Lodhran District Bar Associations and Takht Bhai Tehsil Bar Association, headed by their presidents, which called on the CJP here at the Supreme Court building on Thursday. The Chief Justice about the corruption in judiciary said: We want to get rid of corruption because it spoils and demolishes the image of the institution. Any complaint regarding the corruption in judiciary may be sent along with the tangible proof to the Registrar so that action can be taken to stamp out the corrupt elements from the prestigious institution. Regarding appointment of local commission for recording evidence under National Judicial Policy, the CJP told the delegation that local commissioners to record the evidence have been appointed with a view to provide a common platform to facilitate the litigant parties to get prompt decision from the court and the young advocates to gain first hand experience of legal issues and also to facilitate them financially and encourage them in the legal field. The Chief Justice said after the implementation of National Judicial Policy, hundreds of thousands of cases have been heard and disposed of and recently new targets have also been set to provide speedy justice to litigants at their doorsteps. The members of Bars appreciated the CJPs struggles and efforts in the days of lawyers movement which is unique in the global history and informed about their struggle and sacrifice during the days of the movement. They also appreciated the taking up of suo moto action to recover plundered national wealth from the corrupt. They also discussed with the Chief Justice, issues and matters of interest of the legal/judicial fraternity in his efforts to ensure the supremacy of law in society. They assured the Chief Justice of their full support and cooperation. They expressed the hope that the administration of justice needs his bold and benign leadership and motivation to deliver justice to the public at large. They said that the public have reposed great confidence in the judiciary. Further, the delegation informed his lordship about their hardships like shortage of Judges in Peshawar High Court, establishment of Branch Registry of Peshawar High Court at Kohat, establishment of consumer, banking and labour Courts in District Lodhran, construction of Bar Rooms in Lodhran and library at Takht Bhai Bar.
